Palmlea Lodge & Bures
                                                                    Fiji's Eco Hideaway
About the eco resort

At Palmlea Lodge & Bures, our focus is on local cultures, wilderness adventures, sustainable agriculture, personal growth and learning new ways to live and farm on our vulnerable planet.

We are devoted to responsible eco-tourism and programs that minimize the adverse effects of traditional tourism on the natural environment, and to respecting the cultural integrity of the local people.

In addition to evaluating environmental and cultural impacts, initiatives by Palmlea Lodge & Bures promote recycling, energy efficiency, water re-use & conservation.

We believe that the creation of economic opportunities for local communities is an integral part of eco-agritourism.

Pristine coral reef

Just off the pier at Palmlea Lodge and Bures is Fiji's Great Sea Reef, the third longest continuous barrier reef system in the world. Marine scientists have surveyed and documented the marine ecosystem of the Reef, which remains largely unexplored.

The GSR is home to 55 percent of all known coral reef fish in Fiji, 74 percent of all known coral species in Fiji, 40 percent of all known marine flora in Fiji and 44 percent of Fiji's endemic reef species.

The GSR is one of 16 natural jewels of outstanding biodiversity found in the whole of the Pacific Ocean, comprising about 844 islands and islets with over 10,000 square kilometers of reef, and strewn across 1.2 million kilometers of ocean.

Of global importance, the GSR is on the top of the list, with an exceptional level of endemism and intact systems of lagoons, channels, mangroves and sea grass habitats.

The GSR  is immediately accessible from the dock at Palmlea Lodge & Bures.

Sustainable living

The eco resort operates on energy from the sun and fresh water from our mountain. We grow much of our own food on the farm using organic processes, and support local growers and fishermen.

Palmlea Lodge & Bures is a developing, working eco resort. As a guest, you are free to participate in the activities of the farm as you please.

Joe and Julie, your host family, are committed to your comfort and well-being. They will tailor-make tours and activities especially to suit your interests.
